Changes on D?

So I decided to look up some Omar Speights highlights. “Why would you do that yourself?” Don’t worry, it was from Oregon State when he was good. Very instinctive, aggressive at times, versatile and had a twitch. Where did that guy go?

I’m reminded of a time where we all complained about Damone Clark. He was flat-footed, slow and did not react well in 2020. The next year, under different coaching, he was hell on wheels.

I am in the camp that we will make a defensive coordinator change after the bowl game. The DC could be coaching in the playoffs (hopefully Jesse Minter). I also think Bo Davis is coming and probably Corey Raymond. A wholesale change is needed. I am starting to see quite a few LSU fans on social media resigning themselves into thinking Matt House will stay next year and that this defense will be drastically improved just because people are back for another year. Also that blame is on players before House. I’m here to strongly disagree. The statement I used to make about Damone Clark after the Pelini debacle was “It’s not like he just forgot how to play football. He’s still very talented, but it’s obvious he does not know what to do and is unsure of himself.” This is what I saw with Speights this year. Now why wasn’t Weeks playing more? Why was Harold Perkins lost in zone coverage most of the year? Why did we play CBs 15 yards off the ball? Why did we play zone and not know what to do all year? Why didn’t we spy Milroe and admit after the game that we should have? These are questions for your lame duck Defensive Coordinator. Bye Bye Matt House.
